Saskatchewan’s PeriAnesthesia nursing colleagues first began discussions to form a special interest group in 1998. PANGS' request to be recognized as a Professional Practice Group was approved by the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) late in 2002 and the PeriAnesthesia Nurses’ Group of Saskatchewan (PANGS) was officially formed in 2003.
PANGS Objectives:
▪ to promote high standards for PeriAnesthesia nursing;
▪ to represent Saskatchewan PeriAnesthesia nurses locally and nationally, and to support
the objectives of NAPAN©;
▪ to identify needs and to promote continuing education and research in
PeriAnesthesia Nursing;
▪ to share knowledge and issues about matters relating to PeriAnesthesia settings;
▪ to promote speciality certification.
Conferences and Meetings: “Due to Covid 19 and pandemic precautions there will be no conference for 2020. Details to follow regarding an online Annual General Meeting.”
PANGS holds an annual general meeting and conference as well as quarterly conference call meetings of the executive. The annual conference is usually held in the fall with the annual general meeting on the same day. Often the conference is done in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Operating Room Nurses Group (SORNG). PANGS members receive a reduced registration fee for the annual conference. Check this website for info about the annual fall conference and AGM.
"PANGS also assists members with registration fees to attend the NAPANc Annual General Meeting and Conference, dependent upon funds available.
